Photo Trip!

Living in Los Angeles it is easy to forget that there are so many beautiful sights and views out side of LA County. On this day trip I went to Joshua Tree National Park. Luckily it is only about 130 miles (2 hour drive) away from Los Angeles.

All the photos from this set were taken on my Canon digital camera. It was super windy and it was 100+ degrees, so HOT! However the heat wave did not stop the beautiful golden hour and blue hour light from hitting.

What gear did I bring?

For this photography trip I decided to travel light. I only brought one camera, a tripod, and two lenses.

Which came first my heat stroke or the photos?

As you I mentioned earlier it was hot! it was over 100+ degrees! Since I only had one water bottle on me I stopped to get some essentials. I got some coffee, beer and chips. I later realized that was not my best idea since everything I bought would only work to dehydrate me!

When I finally got to Joshua Tree National Park I was eager to start taking photos. As an avid MINI enthusiast I had to take photos of my trusty MINI Cooper Countryman. Here are those photos.

Would you go for a hike in over 100+ degrees heat?

To ensure I had a heat stroke I decided to go on a hike one of the many trails in Joshua Tree. To keep me going on this hike I brought a delicious IPA with me. Luckily this hike was only a couple miles round trip. At the end of the trail I found an abandoned mill of some sort and an old car that was mostly rust.

Of course I stopped and took several photos. The midday light was not great but I am particularly fond of the detail shots of the cars weathered tires.

Beautiful Sunset to close off the day!

After I finished my hike I was blessed with a stunning sunset and blue hour. The sky went from a stunning pastel pink to a deep blue. I always find that photos never quite capture the beauty of the location.
